Sort of like the Pamplona bull run, just less dangerous.
Dartmouth Regatta (August 31 - Sept 1)
Take to the seas for one of the biggest events in the UK sporting calendar.
Open Studios (August 8-23)
Over 100 studios, galleries across Devon open their doors to visitors, with barns and churches becoming galleries too.
Widecombe Fair (September 11)
Made famous by the traditional folk song, this traditional agricultural show has maypole dancing and bale tossing.
Exmoor Food Festival, Taunton (October date to be confirmed)
Showcases local produce from a variety of independent food and drink producers from Exmoor.
Tavistock Goose Fair (October 12)
Tavistock's annual Goose Fair has attracted traders since the 12th century. Today, stallholders from all over the country descend to sell and to entertain.
The Two Moors Festival (October 11-20)
The hills come alive with the sound of classical music played in churches across Dartmoor and Exmoor.

Annual Pony Drift (October)

The acer glade in The Garden House in Buckland Monachorum has one of the most striking garden displays in the UK, and swathes of purple heather and smudges of acid-yellow gorse carpet Dartmoor.
Hunting season begins (November)
The chance to hunt your own dinner, with lessons on how to prepare it for the oven.
Flaming Tar Barrels (November 5)
For reasons lost in antiquity, flaming tar barrels are carried wildly through the streets of Ottery St Mary, against a backdrop of a gigantic bonfire crowned by Guy Fawkes.
Christmas and New Year
