SPA & Country Club

SPA AND COUNTRY CLUB MEMBERSHIP

As a guest of Moorland View, you have full access to all the facilities on the beautiful 275-acre estate of Bovey Castle, with 15% off dining and 25% off spa treatments. The castle is a pretty 15-minute walk through the woods from North Bovey, or a three-minute drive. Just sign in at reception when you arrive and say you’re a Resort Member of Moorland View when you pay for anything.

HOW IT WORKS
Book well ahead for spa treatments, dining, afternoon tea and activities, quoting your Resort Membership with Moorland View (call 01647 445000). The pool, gym, lounge or bar use do not need to be booked in advance, but you’ll need to sign in at reception.

SPA & GYM

Treatments at the castle's five-star Elan spa include hot-stone massages, anti-ageing facials, aromatherapy massages and his-and-hers massages. The hotel's gym is stocked with a full range of Precor, cardiovascular and strength equipment. Booking essential. Discount on treatments: 25%.

POOL, SAUNA & STEAM ROOM

Housed in the Orangery, the hotel’s indoor Art Deco swimming pool gives way to beautiful views of the estate and Dartmoor National Park. In summer, there are loungers outside for sunbathing. The pool has a Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Lockers and towels are available in the changing rooms.

TENNIS, CROQUET ETC

You have free use of their hard tennis courts, with use of rackets and balls (ask at reception for these). There's a lovely lakeside croquet pitch with use of mallets and hoops. Don't miss the free hawking display every morning at 10am, and check out the extensive programme of pay-for activities, which includes sloe-gin making, hot-air ballooning and off-roading.

FOOD & DRINK

The silver-service Great Western restaurant is dazzlingly glamorous, and the food wows too. The more casual Smith’s Brasserie serves pub favourites and the Cathedral Room and sunny terrace are fabulous spots for a traditional afternoon tea. Head to the cosy cocktail bar for a romantic evening tipple. Discount on food and drink: 15%.

GOLF

Bovey Castle's challenging 18-hole championship golf course is one the UK's best. Designed in 1926 by J F Abercromby, one of the finest British golf course designers, it rivals its sister courses at Gleneagles and Turnberry. There's a fully-equipped club house, driving range and golf academy. Green fees: £75 per person. Booking essential.

ACTIVITIES

Activities include an off-road driving experience, deer park tour, a free falconry display, clay pigeon shooting, air rifle shooting and archery.
