We’ll be in touch two months prior to your stay to take your balancing payment. We accept bank transfer, Paypal and debit, credit cards but charge a 3.4% commission on card payments. A £300 damage deposit is due prior to your arrival, which we’ll send you a reminder for. This will be refunded to you within a week of your departure. When you’ve paid in full, we’ll send you detailed arrival information.

HOW DO I GET ACCESS TO THE COTTAGE?

WHAT TIME IS CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT?
Check-in is from 4pm. Check-out is no later than 11am. Unfortunately we can’t offer early check-in or late check-outs as we need the full day to prepare the cottage, but if you arrive early, you’re welcome to collect the Bovey Castle card from the cottage so that you can use their facilities. Please let us know if you wish to do this. Anytime after 12.15pm is fine to pick up the card. Alternatively, our village pub is a lovely place for a drink or lunch, or you could have a stroll along the river at the bottom of the village. Here’s a village map.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I ARRIVE?
You’ll arrive to a cottage stocked with delicious goodies, including a complimentary bottle of wine and Devon-made Burts crisp, delicious biscuits, made just up the road, a variety of teas, freshly-ground coffee and a bottle of farmhouse milk. You’ll find an iPad with a digital welcome book to help with any questions you have about the cottage and local area, and Suzy is always on hand to help with travel arrangements.

Our terms and conditions have full details.

IS THERE PARKING?
There is free parking for one car at the back entrance to the cottage. There’s plenty more free parking on the village green.

WHERE CAN I DO MY FOOD SHOPPING?
There’s a big Sainsbury's off the A30 at Exeter (Alphington Rd - EX2 8NH). Our favourite place to food shop locally is Chagford, which has a lovely deli, village dairy, wine merchants, butchers, Co-Op and fruit and vegetable shop (The Courtyard Cafe sells organic). Our neighbour sells delicious Dartmoor wildflower honey and fresh eggs from an honesty box on his doorstep (his house is directly opposite the cottage's garden). In Moretonhampstead, there’s a fantastic Zero Waste Shop stocking organic pastas, grains, cereals, chocolates, herbs and spices and other kitchen staples. For more information, check out our blog on Devon’s best indie food shops.

CAN I ORDER A FOOD DELIVERY?
Yes, Ocado (but not Waitrose), Tesco and Sainsburys deliver to the village.

HOW DO I FIND YOU?
The full address of the cottage is Moorland View Cottage, The Village, North Bovey, TQ13 8RA. If you're using a sat nav/GPS, plug in Moretonhampstead, our nearest town, as your destination. From Moretonhampstead, turn into Pound Street, opposite the Co-op, and keep following this single-track country lane for about 1.5 miles until you get to North Bovey. Once you’ve passed the 'North Bovey, please drive carefully' sign, take the first turning on the left (opposite a grassy island with a tree in the middle). Moorland View is the third terraced cottage on the right, with two lollipop-shaped bay trees outside and a dark purple door. This is the back entrance, where there is space for one car. There's more free parking on the village green.

IS THERE MOBILE PHONE SIGNAL?
Not a reliable one. You may get some signal upstairs by the landing window and on the village green. Wi-Fi calling is available at the cottage and there's a landline phone with a honesty box for calls.

WHAT’S THE WIFI CODE?
Network: moorlandview
Password: milk1sugar

WILL THERE BE SOMEONE ON HAND IN CASE OF PROBLEMS?
Yes, the housekeeper lives close by in case of problems.

WHAT’S THE PROCEDURE FOR RETURNING THE DAMAGE DEPOSIT?
If you’ve sent the deposit via bank transfer, we’ll need your bank details (account name, sort code and account number) so that we can return it to you. If you’ve transferred it by Paypal, we’ll transfer it back to you. Barring any problems, the deposit will be returned to you within a week of your departure (usually earlier).
