Moorland View is in North Bovey, one of Devon’s prettiest thatched villages, comprising clusters of thatched stone cottages grouped around an oak-shaded green, a 13th century church and friendly village pub, The Ring of Bells. The village is surrounded by sheep-filled pastures, ancient woodlands and tinkling streams, and is incredibly peaceful. The only sounds you’ll hear are distant church bells, birdsong and the occasional clip-clopping of horses’ hooves.

Dartmoor National Park, one of the UK’s last remaining wildernesses, is on the doorstep, with 365-square-miles of pristine countryside to explore. For beach-lovers, the sugar-white sandy coves of South Devon are a 45-minute drive away, while Cornwall and North Devon are also within easy striking distance. Our blog has suggestions for the best things to do during your luxury Dartmoor cottage holiday.

Dating from 1704 and Grade II-listed, this former farm-labourers’ cottage has immense historical charm, with a thatched roof, wood-beamed walls, exposed stonework, flagstone floors, inglenook fireplace, originall1705 date plate and pretty walled cottage garden. Its stylish interiors have been featured in countless interior and design magazines, including The English Home and Country Homes and Interiors. It’s been decorated in a modern rustic style, with pieces made by local Dartmoor artisans, including ironwork hand-forged by our village blacksmith, baskets, rugs, pottery and chopping boards.

Your luxury Dartmoor break includes membership of nearby five-star country club Bovey Castle, with use of its sauna, Jacuzzi, steam room, beautiful Art Deco indoor pool, gym, tennis and golf facilities, and up to 25% off treatments, food and drink. The castle is a pretty 20-minute walk through the woods, or a five-minute drive away.

Your Dartmoor cottage break will start in style, with complimentary bottle of wine and a selection of Devon-made snacks. Stay a week or more and you’ll get a free hamper worth £40. We offer a variety of food packages, all sourced locally, including breakfast, ingredients for a DIY Full English, oven-ready meals and a West Country hamper. There are wonderful places to eat on the cottage’s doorstep, but if you’d dine at the cottage in front of the cottage’s fire, why not let our private chef do all the hard work for you.

During your luxury Dartmoor cottage holiday, you’ll enjoy a state-of-the-art Sonos sound system with Spotify, which allows you to play virtually any track you like, free Wi-Fi, an iPad loaded with bespoke travel suggestions, a television with Netflix and Amazon Prime and a DVD library.
