We provide everything you need for a blissfully romantic cottage break, including marshmallows for toasting on the fire, wood, scented candles, glossy magazines, fluffy dressing gowns, slippers, board games, library of hardbacks, his and hers’ mountain bikes and wellington boots for countryside strolls.

You’ll have use of iPad loaded with a bespoke digital travel guide giving details on the best things to do in the area, a state-of-the-art Sonos sound system, television with Netflix, BBC iPlayer and Amazon Prime, and a DVD/Blu-ray player with a movie library. Free Wi-Fi.



As part of your romantic break at our luxury Devon cottage, you’ll have membership of nearby five-star country club Bovey Castle, with use of the sauna, indoor pool, gym and golf facilities, and up to 25% off treatments, food and drink. Treatments at the castle's five-star ESPA spa include hot-stone massages, anti-ageing facials, aromatherapy massages, gentlemen's grooming head-to-toe treatments and his-and-hers massages. The castle is a beautiful 15-minute walk through the woods, or a short drive.

Housed in the Orangery, the hotel’s indoor Art Deco swimming pool has far-reaching views of the estate, a huge Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, and on warm days, loungers on the terrace. There’s free use of the hard tennis court and lakeside croquet pitch, and discounted green fees for the championship golf course. The gym is stocked with Precor, cardiovascular and strength equipment. We provide a complimentary hamper of delicious locally-made artisanal produce for your first morning, which includes a loaf of sourdough bread from Made by Liz in Moretonhampstead, organic milk from pasture-fed cows at Challon’s Combe Farm, a bowl of fresh fruit, selection of Dorset cereals, Crankhouse Coffee roasted in Exeter, and Tregothnan tea, grown in Cornwall. We also include a bottle of wine and packet of Midfields Granola cookies, freshly baked in Moretonhampstead.

Our friendly village pub, The Ring of Bells, is an excellent choice for dinner, as is The Horse in Moretonhampstead. If you fancy something grander, head to Bovey Castle, where as a member, you have 15% off food and drink. Smarter still is Michelin-starred Gidleigh Park in Chagford. If you’d rather cosy up in the cottage, pick up some delicious artisanal produce from one of our local farmshops, or order in, with one of our hampers or oven-ready meals. We also offer the services of a private chef.



Our village, North Bovey, is one of the prettiest and best preserved in England, with an oak-shaded village green ringed by clusters of treacle-tinted thatched cottages, a 13th century parish church and thriving village pub. Dartmoor National Park is one of the UK’s last remaining wildernesses and has 365-square-miles of pristine countryside to explore. Even in the height of summer, you’ll have the landscape all to yourselves.

You’ll enter a world of fairytale castles, Bronze Age hut circles, vast open moors, ancient forests and remote thatched hamlets tucked away in lushly wooded hills. For beach-lovers, the sugar-white sandy coves of South Devon are a 45-minute drive away, while wild and windswept North Devon is an hour away. Cornwall’s pretty fishing villages, Port Isaac, Padstow and Fowey, make a wonderful day trip. The Eden Project is also within easy striking distance.
