MOORLAND VIEW’S REVIEWS

Amazing place to stay
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A beautiful too short break in a fabulous cottage. The decor, attention to detail and setting is perfection. We loved it so much we have booked again for a much longer break next year. If you are thinking of booking I would say do it, it's worth every penny. Suzy has thought of everything and more. A special, special place.

Beautiful!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Me and my husband recently returned from a short stay at Moorland view cottage. We loved every moment from the journey in to Dartmoor, to opening the door through to the cottage. The cottage was perfect in every way, from the decor to all the little touches, I loved everything about the cottage, every time I think back to our time there I can't help but smile. We had such a relaxing stay, it was lovely to wake up to hearing birds chirping and the church bells ringing. North Bovey is such a sweet little village , lots of nice walks to go on and the local pub the ring of bells is defiantly worth a visit , very friendly staff and the locals too are very welcoming and the food was great! .Suzy was very helpful and friendly throughout the entire booking and we can't wait to book again!

Beautiful Place!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This cottage is stunning. Prefect in every way. We stayed here for our mini moon straight after our wedding. It was just what we needed. The village is lovely. Cottage very well kitted out and very clean. Everything has been thought of. We enjoyed spending cosy nights in, in front of the fire watching films. The bath is amazing !!! We walked over to Bovey Castle using the wellies provided. The information book in the cottage gave us lots of ideas of things to do. Highly recommend, can't wait to go back Thank you for a lovely stay X

What a fairytale, magical, memorable stay
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My husband and I stayed at Moorland View in early October for our first wedding anniversary and everything, from initial contact with Suzy to directions and finding the key, was smooth and professional. As soon as we walked through the beautiful cottage door, we were so impressed and wowed with everything such as the welcome pack to the décor throughout the property. It was everything we could have asked for and after a day exploring the delights of Devon, we were excited to return to the cottage each evening. If you're looking for a cosy, luxurious stay, you will not be disappointed. Thank you for making our first anniversary a romantic, magical time Suzy and Linda.

Competition winning weekend
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I can't remember whether I actually placed a review on this website after winning a weekend at this fabulous cottage in October 2013. So I thought I'd do it now as I've just come across an old e-mail in my sent box from Suzy. Very sorry for such a delay, I didn enter a comment in the visitors book! I'm so pleased I entered your facebook competition to win a weekend at your boutique cottage in North Bovey. It was a really lovely way to escape from it all. The cottage is absolutely gorgeous and you've paid attention to every possible detail and added even more making a stay at the cottage complete in every way. Loved the Cream Tea and the fresh bread. The weather was kind to us and after a long walk to Lustleigh Cleave, we ended up at 'The Cleave' for Sunday lunch, which tasted so good after the walk. We then headed back home and it only started to rain about half hour from the cottage. Luckily we were prepared with our waterproofs in the backpack, but glad to get back to soak in the enormous bath and then chill out in front of the fire with the lovely bottle of red wine and some local cheese and biscuits and toasted marshmallows. Perfect!

The cosiest, most romantic little gem in the SW
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It's hard to know where to start here as there's so many different aspects of my stay that I enjoyed. Overall I'd say that it's the attention to detail that stood out to us. The cottage is stunning! The design is elegant, quirky, comfortable and romantic all at the same time. You discover little treats throughout your stay...and I don't want to spoil it all by giving everything away bt details such as wellies being left for guests, marshmallows and squewers left by the fire and a free membership to Bovey Castle are just some of the thoughtful touches Suzy has in store for her guests. The linen, products on offer in the large bathroom and big fluffy dressing gowns all make you feel spoiled and well cared for. Even the instructions that we were sent beforehand gave us tons of ideas for how to make the most of our stay in the cottage & the local area...which brings me on to the surrounding countryside. Sadly we were only able to stay the weekend at the cottage but next time we will definitely aim for a longer visit of four nights so we can properly unwind and make the most of our time. Walks, bike rides and a meal at the fantastic pub on the green are a must, as well as a cream tea at Bovey Castle. The countryside around the cottage is stunning and we wish we'd had time to do a few more walks! We didn't travel by car and didn't need one but next time we'd love to visit some of the recommendations on Suzy's list that were a little further afield. One little extravagancy we certainly couldn't have missed out on though was our lunch at Gidleigh Park! It's pricey but worth every penny as the food, service and setting is fabulous. Just make sure you book well in advance! Moorland View is a unique cottage, in a unique location. You can curl up in front of the fire with a book and glass of wine, spend hours rambling through unspoilt countryside, indulge in fine dinning or high quality pub food or be pampered at the nearby Bovey Castle spa. It's not an escape you will forget...at least we won't. For me Suzy has got the balance of luxury and village authenticity just right. Thank you.

An absolute haven from the turmoil of life! Couldn't recommend highly enough
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My boyfriend and I stayed here for 4 nights to celebrate our 10 year anniversary and could not have had a more delightful stay! We arrived feeling completely haggard from London living and were utterly refreshed upon leaving - it really was a transformational holiday and we can happily attest to it's all being down to Suzy and her wonderful cottage. From start to finish Suzy was an absolute delight to deal with - friendly, full of great tips for the area and really professional. She also contacted us at the end of our stay to ask if there was anything that could have been improved upon. (There wasn't!) The cottage is just charming right down to the friendly Bristol-ian decorator working on the cottage down the road. Every detail had been thought of right down to optional black out blinds in the bedroom drawers, "at the pub" door signs and very fluffy bathrobes and slippers. The wood we were provided with allowed us to have 1 very long fire every day for the whole of our stay which was great. Nothing is scrimped on. Be warned (and rejoice in the fact that) there is absolutely NO signal anywhere in the village and even in nearby towns - it was nigh on impossible to get a text or email. BLISS!!! :o) There is a really lovely walk from the cottage through the woods along the river that takes you out on to the golf course at Bovey Castle - no more than 10/15mins gentle stroll door to door. The use of the Bovey Castle gym and pool facilities is great - because frankly you have to do SOMETHING to burn off the delicious scones that you're presented with on arrival. We can highly recommend Bovey Castle, Topsham, Hound Tor, Wistmans Woods and Gidleigh Park. We've already decided we will be going back and cannot recommend Moorland View Cottage highly enough. Go - you won't be disappointed!

This must be one of the most romantic cottages in the UK!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Moorland View Cottage is heaven! Such a peaceful, romantic spot - wandered through the snowdrop filled woods over to Bovey Castle for a massage and swim using the very handy membership card, had an exhilarating walk up to the local Tor on Dartmoor bumping into a few Dartmoor ponies on the way. Great meal in the local pub. And the cottage itself... Pure luxury. So many little extras from the softest plumpest pillows ever, to the marshmallows ready to toast on the open fire. The perfect boutique cottage. Thank you.

Total and utter luxury - you won't want to leave
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This beautiful cottage is absolute 5* luxury. A romantic hideaway with perfect peace & quiet. Everything that you would need is at your fingertips. Fabulous bedding, towels & toiletries. Log fire, board games, wifi, surround sound music in the important rooms (take your ipod) Sky TV, Blue Ray DVD. The local pub is a must, great company and great food. Also if you have the time take a drive to Topsham, brilliant individual shops & antiques on the quay and Bovey Castle hotel & spa is amazing. Would throughly recommend to all, the perfect escape from the rat race a little piece of heaven in Devon

Did not want to leave!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Normally I am not stuck for words, but this holiday left me so relaxed, it is proving difficult. It's a completely different pace of life when compared to London. Small village, narrow roads, surrounded by more small villages and incredible scenery. We still had an amazing week despite the weather being hit and miss: from the 360 degree views at Eastern Tor then relaxing at Bovey Castle spa using the free guest passes, the local villages of Moretonhamstead and Chagford are close enough to nip in and out of, and top up the supplies. Best places for food nearby: the Ring of Bells and the White Horse was so good we went twice, to both. The cottage itself if brilliant. The attention to detail was noticeable throughout, and when the sun disappeared, the (several) bottles of wine and local ales enjoyed by the fire was hardly a bad alternative to chilling in the garden. Spotify and speakers throughout, his and hers mountainbikes, 2 big bedrooms with one of the comfiest beds I've ever slept in and a bathroom with one of the biggest baths I've ever stepped foot in. In the week we were there we even managed to fit in a couple of day trip excursions to Blackpool Sands, Dartmouth Castle and we capped it all off with what is now officially the best Fish and chips in the country at the Rockfish Grill. You can tell you've had a good stay, when you're already planning your next visit. I highly recommend this. If you're looking for a break from the city life or just want to relax - you will not be disappointed.

If Carlsberg did holiday accommodation...
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
From the moment we walked through the door at Moorland View Cottage I knew that we were in for a real treat. This gorgeous cottage offers everything you could possibly need for a self catering holiday...and more, with attention paid to every little detail. I could rhapsodise for ever about all the unexpected and delightful extras that we kept discovering on the first day, but you really should go and discover them yourself...it's much more fun! The village of North Bovey is 'chocolate box' pretty with a great pub which is a couple of strides away from the door. We were there for the village fair and sheep shearing competition and were welcomed as locals for the day. Further afield there is so much to see and do that you could never be bored. We had wonderful weather during our stay but I found myself almost wishing for a rainy day so that I could curl up on the sofa and enjoy the peace and quiet in the elegant interior of Moorland View Cottage.

Quintessential Romance - Perfect!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Not a stone out of place. The attention to detail was far superior to staying in any kind of hotel. We just loved the fireplace, the kitchen, the bedroom, the view, the garden, the wellies, the pub, i could go on... Well done Suzy.

Absolutely Perfect!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My husband and I stayed at Moorland View for the week of our wedding. The cottage is beautiful and there is absolutely nothing Suzy and her team haven't thought of. Everything about it exceeded expectation and made our wedding all we had dreamt of and more. We cannot wait to visit again. Absolutely Sublime. It's as simple as that.

Total relaxation - a place to get away from it all and recharge the batteries!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We stayed at Moorland View for 4 nights for our Honeymoon. Granted it wasn't our first choice (I would've ideally liked 2wks in Hawaii) but having a young son at home with relatives, we couldn't bear the thought of leaving him for too long. So, our search was on for a place in the UK, that offered something unique & special and by heck we found it. You can keep your sandy beaches and mass crowds - this was perfect! It catered for all our needs and then some! Especially loved the marshmallows & toasting fork placed next to the open fire. We really felt like the cottage was our little home for 5days. Without any hesitation we would highly recommend a stay here.

Blissful! It really is 'The Holiday' cottage film set
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We are still raving to everyone about our stay- what a find! It is near impossible to find self-catered accomodation that has the luxuries of a hotel but still feels homely and cosy. We are super fussy Londoners but I can't fault a thing. Suzy went above and beyond with a Christmas tree, the foliage on the stairs, the wreath- it was gorgeous. Loved the local walks, had a yummy meal at the pub and read the papers in front of the fire. Great kitchen as well. Can't wait to book the same weekend next year!

WOW!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I’m no writer, and I find it incredibly hard to express my thoughts and feelings in writing. So I shall leave an incredibly brief review. A one-word review if I may, and that is simply the following…… WOW! Yup. That’s it. WOW!! Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, WOW! The cottage is simply amazing, and I have to admit I have cottage envy. If this were mine, I wouldn’t let any of you stay in it. In fact, I wouldn’t leave this place. Suzy has the most outstanding taste and nothing is overlooked or forgotten. We’re definitely coming back.

Perfect Cosy Cottage
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Highly recommend this beautiful cottage! Gorgeously decorated inside with so many perfect little surprises and details. The bath is wonderful and the beds are very comfy. The village pub is worth going to and Bovey Castle is worth a visit (free membership with cottage), lovely pool and grounds. We reccomend the gorge walk from Castle Drogo (map and details in cottage), very beautiful and 2 hours approx. we couldn't have wished for more out of our stay, truly relaxing! Worth knowing before you go-we couldn't get any mobile phone signal in the village. Thank you Suzy for a wonderful time!

An Idyllic, Luxury, Village Retreat
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I stayed at Moorland View over the Easter weekend with my partner and family. We arrived to beautiful sunshine and almost immediately after 'oohing and ahing' at the lovely interior of the cottage we were enjoying our cream tea in the sunny garden. Beautiful bed linen and towels. An amazing music system, and so many mod cons too numerous to mention, just check out everything that is included on the website. We really enjoyed cooking in the very well equipped kitchen, whilst enjoying the complimentary wine and olives. In the evening it was lovely to enjoy a real log fire. Whilst cooking breakfast in the morning the clip clop of the horse going past the open back door was a lovely country sound. Lovely homemade loaf of bread, lovely fresh ground coffee, I could go on and on, in fact I drove my partner mad, he said you would have thought I'd never heard a horse go by before or fed the birds! It was the whole package in one place that made it so special, there is nothing worse than looking forward to going away somewhere and being disappointed. Moorland View certainly lived up to my expectations from the photo's on the website. Thank you Suzy, we had a wonderful time which will make for very happy memories.

Secret Escape
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Suzy's email with a special last minute price reduction was too tempting to refuse! My husband had no idea where we were going so it was all the more special. We had an amazing time, everything was perfect, from the hampers of food provided and ordered, to the quality of furniture, fabrics and ambiance! Suzy's emails with tips for things to do were so helpful. We had a great meal at the local pub, The Ring of Bells, lovely food, great atmosphere and only 2 minutes walk from the cottage. Swim at Bovey Castle, walk or cycle (two bikes/helmets provided) there, stomp over the fields (wellies provided in various sizes) or just kick back with the all room surround sound music system. Can't wait to go back. Thanks Suzy for your very efficient service and the use of your fabulous cottage.

Amazing!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What a great place to spend a few days. Suzy has thought of everything, the cottage provides the perfect combination of real home comfort and luxury. The Ring of Bells next door is a great friendly pub and restaurant to spend a night or two in. And if you fancy staying in without cooking yourself then we definitely recommend Tim 'the devon chef'. He came and cooked us a tasty and reasonably priced 3 course meal and it is something everyone who stays at the cottage should do. What a lovely break in an equally lovely cottage.

Beautiful Cottage in Idyllic Location
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Myself and my boyfriend have just had a fabulous week at Moorland View. Cannot fault it, we absolutely loved the cottage, the beautiful decor, furniture and fittings and the wonderful garden. The place was spotless when we checked in and Suzy was always contactable by e-mail before our stay to answer any questions we had. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cottage or to stay again myself in the future. The only bad point for us was having to leave at the end of the stay! Suzy also provided a great guide of things to do, the things we did included the following: Ring O Bells is a nice pub a one minute walk away, the drive to Widdecombe is lovely through the moors as is the pub there the Rugglestone Arms. We used the facilities at Bovey Castle and we also dined At Gidleigh Park, would recommend all of those things. So nice hearing a horse clip clop past in the morning and also hear the squirrels who come down in the mornings, open the tin of bird nuts and help themselves. Lovely peaceful place and we got lucky with the weather too. Thanks for a great stay Suzy.

Perfect Honeymoon
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We stayed here for our honeymoon and really loved it, we didn't want to leave! The cottage has lovely luxury touches but also made us really feel at home straight away. Suzy is a really thoughtful owner! Loved the local pub and also had Tim the Devon chef cook us dinner one night. Membership to Bovey castle was a fab extra!

Fabulous!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Think I have found the relaxation zone. After a small blip of not being able to gain entry as the door code had been changed - made ourselves at home in this fabulous cottage. Can only repeat what gap has been said before - garden amazing - a real sun trap & wanted for nothing during our stay. Lovely stroll by the river to Bovey Castle & a cycle over Dartmoor to blow away the cobwebs. Lovely interior with every thing you could want for provided - would recommend the starter pack. Hope to return again one day

"Perfect"
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My wife and I went to the cottage for our honeymoon and it really is fantastic and completely perfect. Suzy provided everything we could have needed for our stay including a lovely binder with a comprehensive list of things to do during our stay. The property is immaculate and well fitted with high quality fixtures and fitting. Very disappointed at the end of our stay and did not want to leave. Will definitely be back.

Just Beautiful!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Beautiful cottage in a beautiful idyllic village! When we arrived we were met by Suzy's lovely housekeeper who was very friendly and helpful. My husband spoke to Suzy before arrival who was also friendly and helpful ! Suzy has exquisite taste and her attention to detail throughout the cottage is incredible. We had the most lovely relaxing stay and would definitely love to return one day !

Perfect Mini Moon!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We booked Moorland View Cottage for our mini-moon and are already planning to return! The cottage is absolutely beautiful, every detail thought out and presented to a very high standard. Most communication with Suzy was by email and she was very prompt which was great. When we arrived at the cottage the heating was on and the lights were on dim which was so cosy and inviting. There was also a bottle of wine some olives and a card on the dining table. Such a lovely personal touch. We cannot fault a thing. The slipper bath and log fire are amazing! The welcome pack is a great help and the guest passes for Bovey Castle are a great bonus. The local area is really quiet and so beautiful. A car is definitely needed to get around although the narrow country lanes are a challenge. Moorland View is a luxury cottage with a home-from-home personal feel.
