Dog-Friendly Honeymoons in Devon

After the vows are said and the last guests have gone home, many newly-weds find themselves craving time to be alone together. For some, that picture wouldn’t feel complete without their dog.

At Moorland View, we welcome couples who see their dog as part of their shared life. A dog-friendly honeymoon here is about settling into one beautiful place, walking together in epic landscapes, and returning each evening, tired and happy, to warmth, privacy and calm.

Moorland View is a five-star, thatched romantic retreat designed for couples who have just tied the knot. By arrangement, we welcome one well-behaved, non-shedding adult dog – allowing you to enjoy a luxurious and indulgent dog-friendly Devon honeymoon without compromising on style – and without leaving your four-legged friend behind.

Choosing Devon for a dog-friendly honeymoon

For couples who adore their dog, bringing them along can make a honeymoon feel more personal and grounded. The key is choosing a setting – and a pace – that suits you and your dog.

A dog-friendly honeymoon in Devon suits couples who:

✓ Value peace over buzz

✓ Enjoy spontaneity rather than schedules

✓ Enjoy walking, food and local character

✓ See their dog as part of their shared life

It may not suit couples looking for:

✗ A resort-style honeymoon

✗ Constant activities or nightlife

Why Moorland View suits dog-friendly honeymoons

The most successful dog-friendly honeymoons tend to share a few essentials. When these elements come together, your dog easily adapts to the change of scene and enhances the honeymoon rather than complicating it.

Should you bring your dog on your honeymoon?

A dog-friendly honeymoon can be wonderful – but it isn’t right for everyone. The right choice is the one that makes this time feel simpler and more enjoyable – for you and your dog.

Dog-friendly honeymoons usually work best if you:

  • want a quiet, low-key start to married life

  • plan to stay in one settled place

  • enjoy walking, talking and unhurried days

  • have a dog that’s relaxed in new surroundings

It may be better to leave your dog at home if:

  • travel would be tiring or stressful for your dog

  • much of what you want to do isn’t dog-friendly

  • you’d feel more relaxed knowing they’re with a trusted sitter
